Stories of Life
“I have a lot of books I love. My favorite books I read when I was young were Les Misérables, Anne of Green Gables, and Natsume Soseki’s Botchan and Kokoro. Back then, I really enjoyed reading about people’s lives because it made me feel excited about what would happen to them next. It also made me think about my life and all the options I had then. It definitely influenced me and by reading this book, I became more aware of my surroundings and thought about each decision I made, like what high school I would attend or where I would work. For example, by reading Anne of Green Gables, I learned that everything does not have to be perfect at all. This reassured me and made me less worried and more confident of my future.
I really enjoyed The Professor's Beloved Equation (博士の愛した数式). I read this recently and it’s about a mathematician. While the mathematics in the book is interesting, the relationships between each character warmed my heart.
However, lately, I’ve been avoiding heavy books that have a lot of sadness and emotion to them, and I’ve been reading more mystery novels. Books with heavy content can make me feel a bit tired, but I’d like to read more again.”
